BACKGROUND

A luxury, new Dublin hotel The Iveagh Garden may have a secret garden, but the management is not hiding the premier IT infrastructure in place for guests and staff alike.
 
INNOVATE teamed up with the owners of the new Iveagh Garden Hotel and their sister hotel, The Harcourt Hotel to provide a top-class infrastructure, matched with premier service.
 
The prestigious 145-room hotel is at the heart of Dublin’s bustling social scene, and at its’ heart is INNOVATE – Ireland’s leading Managed IT Services and Cloud Solutions Provider. 
 
“We have been working with the Harcourt Hotel for the last two years and were there in the planning stages of the Iveagh Garden Hotel to provide advice and support when needed,” said Barry Murphy, Chief Operations Officer, INNOVATE.

SOLUTION

Our professional Services team designed an optimised network from blueprint design through to the physical implementation by our structural cabling engineer of the fibre cabling and configuration. The secure network design is optimised to provide for the delivery of both capacity and resilience over the network for the new Iveagh Garden Hotel and The Harcourt hotel. In a project this size, INNOVATE’s technical expertise came to the fore in the management of the network implementation onsite. 

Through our Advanced Security Network Engineers, INNOVATE demonstrated their networking and security credentials in the design and set-up of Cisco cloud-based technologies. The security portal is now managed by the Managed IT Services Team who provide 24×7 monitoring and support.

INNOVATE delivered a managed high speed internet connection for the two hotels with Cisco Meraki MX100  enterprise grade Firewalls. Failover is addressed by providing connections from two internet service providers to ensure business continuity and a robust back-up solution.

RESULT

“Wireless access points using Cisco Meraki networks means guests can log-on securely with separate access for staff, while wireless tills  and card machines mean less paperwork for the hotel,” said Barry.

 “We moved the hotel booking and management software, Hotsoft, to Microsoft ’s cloud solutions platform, Azure. The drivers of this decision, by the Hotel management, were to have a scalable, flexible and reliable solution for their business, to eliminate the cost of maintaining on-site servers, gain performance and security improvements on the IT estate across and storage data away from the site as a measure for secure Back-up and business continuity,” Barry said.


INNOVATE were also able to solve the problem of providing an interface between Hotsoft Hotel software, and the hotel phone system. This supports a new way of working for Housekeeping to inform the system when rooms are ready for check-in and improve effective ways of working between departments in the hotel.

 
The IT infrastructure has been recognised as providing ‘real value,’ by the group’s financial controller Steven Haines. 
 
“We appointed INNOVATE as our strategic IT provider in late 2015 as we felt our previous IT support services had dropped off and we had outgrown them regarding what we wanted to achieve with the company,” Steven said.
 
“INNOVATE were hugely supportive and proactive from the onset when we were planning the Iveagh Garden Hotel and continuously suggested improvements throughout all stages of development,” said Steven.  
 
“I felt they put the needs of the hotel first and understood what we were trying to achieve. They were vested in ensuring that the set-up across the hotels would deliver for our us once we were operational and worked well across the entire project team and contractors involved in bringing Dublin’s newest luxury hotel to market. Our dedicated internet connection is as fast as you would find in any hotel and an integrated POS system means charging guest’s orders to their account can be instant,” said Steven.

 “They also provided direct access to the implementation engineers for the duration of the implementation so, in the event of a problem, you do not find yourself talking to an automated service,” he concluded. 

Once the Iveagh Garden Hotel opened, the INNOVATE project team handed over to their managed IT services team who provide both hotels with 24×7 monitoring and support of their ICT infrastructure through their Network Operations Centre (NOC).

INNOVATE were delighted to be part of the delivery of The Iveagh Garden modern luxury four-star hotel in Dublin. A large project with many stakeholders, we demonstrated our technical capability and project management skills to design and manage the network implementation for both hotels. We continue to support their on-going IT infrastructure needs as their managed IT service provider and are delighted with the success of the Iveagh Garden Hotel.
